Meta Connectivity supports the connectivity industry as it prepares for the metaverse, partnering to move solutions forward fast and explore new ideas. They have been collaborating with industry partners since 2013 and in 2022 they wanted to refresh their website.

What Meta was expecting to accomplish

Meta Connectivity (MCx) had recently repositioned their mission and strategic pillars in light of Meta’s overall rebrand. As such, I would be designing and building a refreshed site that communicates the new positioning. Meta, however, shuted down its Connectivity division in December 2022.

Continuing the Project

This project is an extension of the website refresh initiative that commenced last year but was temporarily halted due to the Meta rebranding process. With the rebrand now successfully concluded, MM is resuming the project from where it was paused.

Elevate Meta Connectivity

We have a unique opportunity to contribute to raising awareness for the Meta Connectivity brand and its mission to expedite the evolution of connectivity in order to facilitate the integration of other Meta products with the metaverse.

Deepen our Relationship

We are excited to build upon and strengthen our relationship with the Meta Connectivity team as they continue to move forward with their new mission. Meta invested over $35 Billion on the Metaverse and it's expansion.

Elevate Awareness

Elevate awareness of the Meta Connectivity brand and its mission to accelerate the evolution of connectivity to help bring the metaverse to life.

Educate Audiences

Educate audiences about MCx to create clarity of their mission, narrative, and portfolio. Position MCx as an innovative and credible partner in the connectivity ecosystem.

Engage Audiences

Engage our target audience with educational content (i.e read case studies, watch videos, and clicl to partner pages) – efficiently and effectively.

What we accomplished

The UX main role in this project was consultation & review of third party Content Company deliverables. To audit their content and be able to track down their deliverables, we designed a current vs future state sitemap. The UX team played a crucial part in understanding the AI structure and helping Meta bring their vision live.

Component Breakdown

Exploring Opportunities

We did a comprehensive component audit of the Meta Connectivity website. Based on the findings from this audit, we carefully deliberated on whether to retain the current design and functionality of each component, enhance them with cosmetic adjustments, or entirely rebuild them. Subsequently, our UX team and I embarked on the process of crafting a component library within Figma. Our approach involved constructing this library devoid of the final design, allowing us to utilize these components for wireframing purposes and facilitating the creative decision-making process.

Exploring Opportunities

We initiated the wireframing process for the new website in close collaboration with our content partners. Together with our partners from Meta and Media.Monks, we developed templates that would be showcased to our ultimate stakeholders at Meta. The wireframes received swift approval with only minor adjustments needed.

Documentations

What we accomplished

Upon receiving approval and finalization of the designs, we proceeded to lock the frames for the development phase. Consistent with our established protocol for other Meta projects, the UX team diligently prepared a Spec Sheet containing comprehensive component annotations and behaviors. This pivotal step streamlined the seamless transfer of design information to the development team.

What I've learned?

Project Retrospective

Navigating the Meta Connectivity (MCx) project proved to be an exceptionally smooth journey, marked by the establishment of strong rapport with our Meta stakeholders and their content agency. This project was all about collaboration and I was happy to lead this project from the component breakdown to client presentations.
